Summer Session One consists of a five-week academic program that offers a variety of exciting courses in art history, food studies, film studies, psychology, studio arts, and more.
One of the advantages of studying abroad in Italy during the summer is the vibrant cultural life that students enjoy at this particular time of year. Perugia, as well as neighboring cities in Umbria and Tuscany, turn into open-air settings for a large number of activities and events, including concerts, festivals, and traditional holiday celebrations.
Choose freely from among the Umbra summer course offerings selecting either the one-course, or the two-course program. All courses are taught in English and include a variety of co-curricular activities and excursions. See course descriptions for details.
Nearly all Umbra courses have co-curricular excursions throughout Umbria, Tuscany, and central Italy. Students often express that some of their favorite academic field trips involve exploring the mysteries of ancient art, the craft of artisan wine production, and the wonders of Italian food culture.
Umbra also offers a wide variety of activities each summer including social mixers, tandem language exchange, pizza and pasta nights, gelato tastings, cooking classes, day and overnight trips and more!
